J-Gate Product Family
1. J-Gate – the e-journal portal cum bibliographic database.
J-Gate (www.j-gate.informindia.co.in) is a portal cum bibliographic database accomplishing indexing at more than 23,000 + online journals with links to full text for every article and author email address. J-Gate possesses the following unique features:
- All journalsare indexed cover to cover
- Acts as a publisher independent gateway to access e-journals
- Has two major functionalities
- Browse Table of Contents – allows the user to browse the latest TOC by journal, by publisher or by subject.
- Search article Database – allows the user to search the bibliographic database of all the articles from 23,000+ online journals indexed in the database with link to full text and author email address.
- Has seven subject modules
- Agricultural and Biological Sciences (JABS)
- Arts and Humanities (JAH)
- Basic Sciences (JBS)
- Bio-Medical Sciences (JBMS)
- Engineering and Technology (JET)
- Social and Management Sciences (JSMS)

- The portal cum database includes coverage from 2001 onwards, and is updated weekly. Some journals dates back to even 1996
- Covers 6000+ open access journals as part of the 23,000+ online journals.
- 1.5 million articles added every year
- J-Gate can be customized to limit the search database to the subscribed online journals of the library. Here in we create an option to limit the search of the users to his subscribed journals and/or open access journals with indication in the database against article whether the article comes from his subscribed journal list or not.

2. J-Gate Custom Content (JCC)
Libraries have been making significant investments in acquiring journals and books year-after-year. For providing access to their books, libraries build catalogues. For the “subscribed” journal literature, libraries do not build a similar catalog. JCC fills this lacuna by way of for providing a customized J-Gate for journals subscribed by a library, in print or electronic version. JCC acts as:
- A single log-on gateway for library’s subscribed journals with link to full text.
- A customized Table of Content (TOC) Service with a searchable database for library’s journal literature collection.
- An alerting service for the user – the user can set his journal/publisher/subject profile using MyJournals service and keeps on getting alerts as new articles are updated in the database.
- An Online Journal Access Catalog (OJAC) for your subscribed journals.
- A link resolver is integrated with the database to resolve the links to aggregated databases of full text journals. ( This is an optional feature)
- If the customer desires, we can add the open access journals in the area of his interest to the list of the subscribed journals, giving thereby a value added to the customer.
JCC covers the current besides extra 3 years back files.

3. J-Gate custom Content for Consortia (JCCC)
JCC extended to a group of homogenous libraries is a consortia solution. JCCC provides two additional benefits.
- Acts as a common access point for the journal collection of the entire consortia
- Acts as a resource-sharing platform through Inter-Library loan or document delivery models.
- All features of JCC are available in JCCC to the entire consortia
- Several e-journal consortia’s in India have adopted JCCC

4. Open J-Gate
Open J-Gate is an electronic gateway to global journal literature in open access domain. Launched in 2006, Open J-Gate is the contribution of Informatics (India) Ltd to promote OAI. Open J-Gate makes available seamless access to millions of journal articles available online. Open J-Gate is also a database of journal literature, indexed from 6,000 open access journals, with links to full text at Publisher sites.
- Portal with the largest number of e-journals
Open J-Gate indexes articles from 5659 academic, research and industry journals. In that 3282 of them are peer-reviewed scholarly journals.
- Links to two million+ open access articles
This number is growing with 300000+ new articles added every year. Full-text links are regularly validated.
- Constant updating
The Open J-Gate site is updated every day.
- Well designed journal classification
All journals are classified in a three-level hierarchical system to provide better relevancy in search results.

Selection of Articles
The selection of news articles is based on the following selection criteria:
- The news articles shall primarily focus on Indian companies and businesses, including business services, finance, trade, commerce and economy.
- Monthly, quarterly, half yearly, annual performance data of companies in the public, private or joint sector or group companies, performance analysis, investment research, market surveys, projections.
- Acquisitions, amalgamations, mergers, demergers and diversifications.
- Capacity expansion, modernisation, new products, new processes. Collaborations, including technical, financial, marketing, distributorship, representative/liaison, technology transfer.
- Contracts, orders, restrictive trade practices, MRTPC investigations.
- New business firms and/or formation of joint ventures between Indian companies and government, Indian companies and foreign companies, Indian companies and Indian companies; Indian companies setting up plants overseas or acquiring overseas plants/ manufacturing facilities, consortia.
- Yearly, half yearly and quarterly export data on all types of Indian produce.
